Terms of Use & End User License Agreement
Effective date: 14 October 2026
By downloading, installing or using Portmole you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not download, install or use Portmole or this website.
These Terms of Use and End User License Agreement (the “Terms”) are a legal agreement between you and techynAR (“techynAR”, “we”, “us”) covering the Portmole application for macOS, any updates to it, Portmole Pro license keys, and the website at portmole.techynar.com (together, “Portmole”). If you use Portmole on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you are authorised to accept these Terms for it, and “you” includes that organisation.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of legal majority where you live, and able to enter into a binding contract to accept these Terms or buy Portmole Pro. You may not use Portmole if you are barred from doing so under the laws that apply to you.
2. Your license to use Portmole
Subject to these Terms, techynAR grants you a personal, worldwide, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable and revocable license to download, install and use the free version of Portmole on Macs you own or control, for personal or commercial purposes. Portmole is licensed, not sold.
3. Portmole Pro license
- One-time purchase. Portmole Pro costs $15 (plus any applicable tax) and is not a subscription.
- Per person, up to 3 Macs. A Pro license is for one individual, who may activate it on up to 3 Macs that they personally use. Teams need one license per person.
- Lifetime updates. Your Pro license includes updates to Portmole for as long as techynAR continues to offer Portmole.
- Keep your key to yourself. License keys are personal. You may not share, publish, sell, resell, transfer or otherwise make your key available to anyone else. We may deactivate keys that are shared, abused, refunded, charged back or obtained fraudulently.
4. What you may not do
Except where the law expressly allows it despite this restriction, you may not:
- copy, modify, adapt, translate or create derivative works of Portmole;
- reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble or otherwise try to derive its source code;
- crack, patch or circumvent its license checks, or unlock Pro features without a valid license;
- redistribute, sell, resell, rent, lease, lend, sublicense or host Portmole for others, or bundle it with other software;
- remove or alter any copyright, trademark or other notices;
- use Portmole to break the law or harm other people’s systems.
5. Ownership and intellectual property
Portmole is proprietary software. © 2026 techynAR. All rights reserved. techynAR and its licensors own all rights, title and interest in Portmole, including its code, design, mole mascot, text and graphics. “Portmole”, “techynAR” and their logos are trademarks of techynAR; you may not use them without our written permission except to refer to Portmole accurately. Apple, Mac and macOS are trademarks of Apple Inc. Any rights not expressly granted in these Terms are reserved.
6. Payments
Portmole Pro is sold through Dodo Payments, which acts as the merchant of record. Dodo Payments processes your payment, collects any applicable sales tax or VAT and issues your receipt, and its own terms and privacy policy apply to the purchase. Prices are shown in US dollars and may change in future; a price change never affects a license you have already bought.
7. Refunds
If Portmole Pro is not right for you, email aryan@techynar.com within 14 days of purchase for a refund. Refunds are issued through Dodo Payments to your original payment method. When a refund is issued, the license key is revoked and Pro features stop working on every Mac it was activated on. See the refund policy for details. Nothing in these Terms removes any refund right you have under the law where you live.
8. Updates and changes to Portmole
Portmole checks for updates automatically once a day (you can turn this off in Settings) and may download and install updates. We may add, change or remove features, change what is included in the free version and in Pro, change prices, or suspend or discontinue Portmole at any time, with or without notice. We will try to give reasonable notice of significant changes. We are not obliged to provide updates, support or any particular feature.
9. Third-party services
Portmole relies on services run by others, including GitHub (for downloads and update checks), Dodo Payments (for purchases and license activation) and Apple (for macOS, code signing and notarization). Their availability and behaviour are outside our control, and their own terms apply to your use of them. We are not responsible for third-party services.
10. Your responsibility for processes you stop or start
Portmole sends signals (such as SIGTERM and, if you choose Force Quit or ⌥-click, SIGKILL) to processes you select, and starts commands you choose or approve in Terminal. Stopping a process can lose unsaved work or data, and starting a command runs that command with your user’s permissions. You are solely responsible for which processes you close or restart and which commands you run, and for keeping backups. You use Portmole at your own risk.
11. Disclaimer of warranties
Portmole is provided “as is” and “as available”, with all faults and without warranty of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, techynAR disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, accuracy, and that Portmole will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure or compatible with your Mac, software or projects.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, techynAR will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, work, profits, revenue, business or goodwill, arising out of or relating to Portmole or these Terms, even if advised of the possibility. techynAR’s total liability for all claims relating to Portmole or these Terms is limited to the greater of the amount you paid techynAR for Portmole in the 12 months before the claim arose and USD 15.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions or liability limits, so some of the above may not apply to you. In that case they apply to the maximum extent the law allows.
13. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless techynAR and its owners, contractors and agents from any claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of Portmole, your breach of these Terms, or your violation of any law or the rights of anyone else.
14. Termination
These Terms apply until ended. Your license ends automatically if you breach these Terms, and we may suspend or terminate it, and deactivate any license key, if we reasonably believe you have breached them. You may stop using Portmole at any time by deleting it. When your license ends you must stop using Portmole and delete all copies. Sections 4 to 6 and 9 to 17 survive termination.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The updated version takes effect when it is posted on this page, with a new effective date. If you keep using Portmole after that, you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree, stop using Portmole.
16. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms, and any dispute arising out of or relating to them or to Portmole, are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Subject to any mandatory consumer protection rights you have where you live, the courts of India have exclusive jurisdiction.
17. General
- Severability. If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect and that part is enforced to the maximum extent possible.
- Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and Refund Policy, are the entire agreement between you and techynAR about Portmole.
- No waiver. Not enforcing a right is not a waiver of it.
- Assignment. You may not assign or transfer these Terms or your license without our written consent. We may assign them, for example as part of a sale or reorganisation of our business.
- Force majeure. We are not liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
